Dakota Waters Resort
"Lake Sakakawea in North Dakota is currently the hottest lake on the entire Missouri River system and with low water projected for 2001, the fishing should be fantastic. And, I proudly point you to the best place to stay if you want to fish this terrific Missouri River Reservoir.
Kelvin and Laura Heinsen operate Dakota Waters Resort on Lake Sakakawea, about 18 miles north of Beulah, ND. I've stayed there numerous times and have always been delighted with the friendly and courteous service.
They have great log cabins, a campground, new convenience store, fish cleaning station, boat rentals guide service and lots of helpful advice on where the fish are biting.
There are six log cabins with kitchenettes, private bath & shower, full size beds, linens, place settings, barbecue grills and picnic tables. There's also a single log cabing with kitchenette, private bath & shower, single size beds in two bedrooms, linens, place settings, grill and picnic table.
The fishing is excellent and it starts when you leave the ramp. Honest, I've made some great catches within sight of the boat ramp. This is a superb walleye, sauger, northern pike and smallmouth bass area and I've also caught a number of chinook salmon while walleye fishing.
The ramp is modern and they have dockside gas and water, sailboat mooring, rental slips, an RV dump station, an event shelter, a 4,000 foot airstrip and paved access to their door.
Needless to say, they also offer bait & tackle.
You can phone for reservations, 1-800-473-5803. Or write them at: Dakota Waters Resort; Box 576; Beulah, ND 58523. You can email them at dakwater@westriv.com or visit their website at www.dakotawaters.com. " -- Tony Dean
