Prairie Dog forum set for Rapid City
Prairie Hills Audubon Society, World Wildlife Fund, Defenders of Wildlife, Humane Society of the United States and the Prairie Dog Coalition will co-sponsor a meeting on
Black-Footed Ferrets
The talk will focus on black-footed ferret biology and by necessity the species they are dependent on - prairie dogs. It will touch on past, present and future ferret
recovery efforts throughout the ferret's range and highlight a number of the South Dakota ferret introductions along with ferret management activities.
The speaker is Scott Larson of the U S Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) in Pierre, SD. He is a fish and wildlife biologist who has worked for the FWS for 21 years, which includes 19 years working with black-footed ferret reintroductions.
